Remembering

The gentle thrum of a thousand waves against the shore was comforting. Almost too comforting. The ocean was one of those few truly untamable forces left in this world, and any others for that matter. Noah looked up at the sky, and frowned. The dull shine of the stars in the sky was peaceful, yet somehow also seemed sad.

Today was the anniversary. Three years since his home, his family and his entire life had been torn away and destroyed by those so called peacekeepers. Shinigami. Gods of death. How... Appropriate. They really are little more than their title seems to suggest, heartless monsters that exist to fight, kill and destroy anything of value. How the universe let those... things... be responsible for the afterlife is one of those great mysteries we may never know the answer to. Yawning slightly, Noah closed his eyes and let the sounds wash over him - gently lulling him into sleep.
